What the price does not hide

Popular shorteners often meter tracked clicks, stop new links at the monthly quota, or quote a price that assumes a year paid up front. Brevily’s rules, beside what is common elsewhere.

Clicks are not a meter

Redirects are unlimited and no plan prices a click; Pro and Business count every one.

Elsewhere: tracked clicks are a monthly quota on several popular shorteners, even on plans around $30 a month.

Monthly, never a year up front

Every plan is billed monthly at the price shown and can be cancelled at any time. There are no annual plans to lock into.

Elsewhere: the advertised price often assumes a year paid up front: month to month costs more, and some entry plans are sold only by the year.

A grace past the allowance, then a top-up

Past a monthly allowance, a paid plan lets 10% more through, never charged; then a top-up you choose, for 1, 3 or 6 months, on Starter, Pro and Business. Never an overage invoice.

Elsewhere: some stop new links once the month’s quota is used, until the cycle resets, and offer overage only on enterprise contracts.

Prices in USD, before tax. Dodo Payments is the merchant of record and adds tax where it applies. Receipts are emailed, and every purchase is listed in the console under Billing.

Past the plan, add-ons

For a little more of one thing, add it to the plan you are on: a recurring add-on renews with the plan each cycle, and a top-up raises one monthly allowance for the months you choose.

  • A top-up covers 1, 3 or 6 months, paid once, at least $5 a checkout. What it adds is not carried into another month.
  • Past a monthly allowance, a paid plan lets 10% more through, never charged; past that grace, a new use waits for a top-up or the reset. Free has none.
  • Raising a recurring add-on is charged pro rata for the rest of the period, at once; lowering one takes effect at once, and nothing is refunded. On a yearly plan it is billed for the year, at twelve times its monthly price.
  • Free buys no add-ons.
  • Redirects are not metered; traffic that looks automated or abusive may be suspended under the acceptable-use policy.

How billing works

Monthly or yearly, in dollars

A plan that sells the year may be paid for twelve months up front; allowances still reset every month. Prices exclude tax: Dodo Payments, the merchant of record, takes the payment, adds GST, VAT or sales tax where it applies, and issues the invoice.

Change plan at any time

A dearer plan applies as soon as the difference for the rest of the period, charged pro rata, is paid. A cheaper one starts when the period you paid for ends.

Cancel at any time

Your plan runs to the end of the month you paid for, then moves to Free. Links on Brevily’s domains keep working as long as someone signs in at least every 180 days; after that they show a “not in use” page and, 90 days later, are released: a chosen back-half can be taken by anyone, and destinations are deleted. Your own domains show a “not active” page until you are on a plan that includes them again.

No refunds

Access starts the moment you pay, so payments are not refunded, and you are asked to agree to that at checkout. That covers a downgrade, a lowered add-on and an unused top-up too.

If a renewal fails

If a payment fails, the plan keeps working for 30 days, then moves to Free. Links on a paid plan are never put to sleep. Paying again, for any plan, brings it back.

Not at once. A cancelled plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then moves to Free. A paid plan never goes to sleep while it is paid.

On Free:

  • Links on a Brevily domain keep redirecting as long as someone in the organisation signs in at least every 180 days.
  • After that the organisation goes to sleep: its links show a "not in use" page.
  • 90 days later they are released: a back-half you chose can be taken by someone else, and where each link pointed is deleted.
  • Signing in before then wakes it.

Own domains that Free does not include show a "not active" page, and come back if you move to a plan that does. You can export every link, with its clicks, as CSV at any point.
