On people who click your links: one
Following a Brevily short link sets one cookie, on the short link's own domain:
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
__Host-sv |
A random identifier, signed, so that a returning visitor is counted once among a link's unique visitors and keeps the same A/B test variant. It belongs to the short link's own domain, is sent to no other site, and is never used to follow anyone elsewhere. Where the link's owner sends clicks to their own webhook or to Google Analytics, a pseudonymous identifier derived from it, different for each customer, goes with each click. | A year |
There is no cross-site identifier and no advertising pixel of ours. We record the click — the country, device, browser family and referring site — and send the visitor on.
If the owner of a link adds retargeting pixels to it, a feature of the paid plans, the visitor passes through a one-second page where the advertising platforms the owner chose load their pixels, and those platforms may set their own cookies under their own terms. The link's owner is responsible for any consent that requires. We do not add pixels to anyone's links.
On this website: none
This website sets no cookie. Your choice of light or dark theme is kept in your browser's local storage, which never leaves your device.
In the console
| Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|
__Host-brevily_session |
Keeps you signed in. Set only when you sign in; your browser's scripts cannot read it. | 12 hours, or until you close the browser, whichever comes first — or 30 days if you choose to stay signed in |
csrf |
A token the console checks on every form it receives, so another site cannot submit one in your name. The console's own script reads it to send it back. | Until you close the browser |
brevily_verify, brevily_mfa, brevily_mfa_enrol, brevily_pk_login, brevily_pk_register, __Host-brevily_oauth, __Host-brevily_link, __Host-brevily_signup |
Each holds your place in a step of signing up, signing in or setting up sign-in: a code sent to you, a second factor, a passkey, a sign-in through Google, GitHub, Microsoft or your organisation's single sign-on, linking one of those to your account, or creating your account from one of them. Set only during that step. | 10 minutes at most |
brv-rail |
Remembers whether you collapsed the console's sidebar. Set only when you collapse or expand it. | A year |
brevily_rv_* |
Remembers that you gave a shared report's password, so you are not asked again on each page. Set only on a shared report page (/r/…) that asked for one. |
12 hours |
None of them is used for analytics or advertising. The console also keeps a few preferences in your browser's local storage, such as your theme and your recent searches; they never leave your device.
Managing them
Your browser can block or delete cookies. Blocking the console's will stop you signing in; this website and every redirect will carry on as normal, and a redirect without its cookie counts its visitor as new.
